Bike bags

3th study year, Autumn

Client: Ghost-bikes GMBH

Ghost-bikes GMBH is a German bicycle manufacturer and is one of the fastest growing companies in the market. They sell around 150.000 bikes each year and since 2008 they are a part of the Accell group. In autumn of 2014 I had the opportunity to develop a new product for Ghost in a small team with other students who shared the same passion for outdoor sports. The product is a bag system specially designed for a full suspension mountainbike which allows users to carry a full range of trekking equipment for multiple day trips without limiting the riding experience. The final product can easily be attached and detached from the bike and can be transformed to a backpack. This makes it easier to hike up steep trails while pushing the bike. The system is designed to minimize the amount of movement from the bags so the riding experience is not influenced.

The project consists of three phases. The first phase is an individual concept, in the second phase our team has emerged the individual concepts into one working prototype and during the last phase of the project one of our team members has worked for Ghost to make the product closer to production.

Phase 1                                                Phase 2                                              Phase 3
