Ever since I was little, I have been interested in the design of products. After having disassembled every broken household appliance from my parents and spending my entire youth playing with Lego, I discovered in high school that industrial design was the grown-up version of what I used to do as a child.

 

A good product is, in my opinion, a product which is focused on function, build quality and mostly user experience. The aesthetics of the product should enhance these qualities and should never result in the opposite. Although I am not a fashion designer, I share the opinion of Vivienne Westwood "Buy less, choose well, make it last." In my designs function, build quality, user experience and durability have the priority, and I prefer to look at long-term expenses rather than just the cost price. This means that my favorite products are the ones that you use for such a long time that they unknowingly blend in with your way of life. The best part is when you sometimes hold the product in your hand and realize that after all this time you still enjoy the product as much as on the day you bought it.

 

This view on design is what I would like to apply in my second passion which is outdoor sports. Although born in the Netherlands, it has never stopped me from spending as much time as possible in the mountains. Naturally, my interests and experience in both design and outdoor sports have given me an understanding of the industry and its trends. As a fanatic skier and mountaineer, I enjoy products that not only deliver the promised functions but enhance your outdoor experience.
